The unfair world where the bad gets more powerful – Story or Reality?

“I am going to do some reallocation of projects. Let’s assign high stake projects to this talented Mr. X.”, he said.

“But Mrs. Y has been handling the client for a long time now. The client is impressed with our work.”

“Yes, but there is a possibility of becoming better with Him coming on board. Besides, She just got divorced, She belongs with her children. How stable do you think She will be post that!”

“Ok, maybe you are right.”

“Also, as we are expanding our promotional budget, we will have to cut on resource costs. I have prepared the list of employees to be released.”

“I saw it. I observed that the number of women on the list is disproportionately high.”

“Maybe, but that’s a pure coincidence.”, he replied.

I have come across so many stories, in my coaching career, where women have been looked down upon and talked down to.

These women either are coerced to give in to this harassment or are laid off.

For long periods of time, the bad guy enjoys his designation and the power that comes with it.

In cases, where he is caught, hardly ever his actions are made public, for the fear of legal implications and bad reputation of the company.

This one gentleman, who is the inspiration for this article, was elegantly let go by the company, for continuous unfair and biased behaviour. As the real reason of the exit was not divulged - obviously! - he holds a new dignified position in a renowned company.

And the women he laid off in the previous company, are still facing the brunt of his actions. Still struggling to find a good job.

Closing our eyes will not make the reality any less real.

Ignoring the facts will not make the truth any less true.

In a world where the wrong is disguised and hidden, the victim is made to struggle even more, we need to stand up. And by we, I mean those in power.

It’s going to be a long journey.

But it will be far more worth to challenge the wrong than to live with it.

Trust me. Truth will find its way to the light.
